Effects of this medicine

This medicine improves various symptoms such as cough, sticky phlegm and breathing difficulty due to bronchial asthma, asthmatic (asthmatoid) bronchitis, chronic bronchitis and emphysema through effects such as expansion of the bronchi and respiratory center stimulation.
It is usually used to treat bronchial asthma, asthmatic (asthmatoid) bronchitis, chronic bronchitis or emphysema.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (200 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day, in the morning and before bedtime. For bronchial asthma, you may take 2 tablets (400 mg) at a time, once a day before bedtime. The dosage may be adjusted according to the disease, age or symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • This is a sustained release tablet. Do not chew.
  • You should never take two doses at one time even if you miss a dose. Avoid shortening the interval between doses, since you will become more susceptible to adverse reactions if you do. 
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Having too much drinks that contains a large amount of caffeine, such as coffee and tea, may cause adverse reactions.
  • Smoking and quitting smoking may affect medicinal effects.
  • Avoid taking any food containing St. John's wort, since it may diminish medicinal effects.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include headache, insomnia, dizziness, tremor (shivering of limbs), palpitation, arrhythmia, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, diarrhea, indigestion (such as heartburn) and anemia. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • convulsion, decreased consciousness, impaired mind [convulsion, consciousness disorder, acute encephalopathy]
  • lassitude, muscle pain, reddish brown urine [rhabdomyolysis]
  • abdominal pain, vomiting of blood/melena, black stool [gastrointestinal bleeding]
  • anemic symptoms, general malaise, dull headache/headache [pure red-cell aplasia]
  • hives, pallor, sweating [anaphylactic shock]
